Established 66 years ago in 1957, the golf course was the original site of the Florida Citrus Open (now Arnold Palmer Invitational) on the PGA Tour from 1966 through 1978, Some of golf’s greatest players like Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, and Julius Boros won at Rio.
So far, Rio Pinar Golf and Country Club has been the host of 13 PGA Tour events and 4 LPGA Tour Events.
Located in Central Florida, the golf course at the Rio Pinar Golf Club has a classic design that is suitable for all abilities and skill levels. The traditional style layout has medium-sized greens and narrow fairways. There are some fairways that are lined with the numerous pine trees present on the course. Water hazards and sand bunkers also come into play on a few holes. The most difficult hole at Rio Pinar Golf Club is the par-4 fifth hole. It requires a precise tee shot beyond a creek to a small landing area and there is not only a dogleg left fairway that is bordered by a creek, there is also a well-bunkered green.
The PrimeTime Junior Invitational was founded by Lynes Behling, a top junior golfer from Germany. The idea was born in 2019 on the campus of Florida Atlantic University, where Lynes played as a student athlete on a full scholarship and competed at the collegiate NCAA I level. Throughout his journey from a high-school golfer to collegiate athlete, he gained valuable insights and experiences in the world of junior golf.
Lynes aims to share his passion and knowledge with aspiring young talents who dream of playing as student athletes at a university one day. Together with Alex Kyriacou, a former top U.S. junior golfer and NCAA I player at Saint John’s University, and Marcel Rauch, a former top U.S. collegiate and NCAA I player at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and assistant coach at Illinois State University, they leverage their unique perspectives to guide players through the challenging path from high-school to the collegiate level – both from an international and national standpoint.
They seek out the most dedicated, enthusiastic, and talented prospects and invite them to the PrimeTime Junior Invitational, held once a year. This tournament provides a platform where high-school players, future college athletes, transfers, and collegiate golfers can compete at a high level.
Our tournament represents excellence in sports, and the dream of combining golf and academics at the highest international level – true to the vision of our founders.
